Old Bags™ Luncheon - For the Love of Susie
June 1, 2006

The inaugural “Old Bags Luncheon- for the Love of Susie,” was held May 11 at The Montage. A special feeling was in the air as friends of Susie Hazelett came together to remember her and to continue the fight against ovarian cancer. The capacity crowd was treated to wine and hors d’oeuvres as they visited with one another and placed their bids on all of the wonderful handbags showcased in the silent auction.

The luncheon program included a tribute to Susie and remarks by Diane Willis and Karen Hensel. Wilna Chance and Lara Shelton, Susie’s mother and daughter, were introduced and given a very warm reception by luncheon attendees. Also recognized were honorary luncheon Chair Pat Miller with Vera Bradley, and Lyn St. James, honorary 2006 Turn UP the Volume Chair.

The event netted over $50,000 for Ovar’coming Together, and will be used to further its mission of support, education and research. The 2007 event is already being planned for May 10, 2007 at the Forum in Fishers.
